Paris Photo Blog
As photographer living in Paris, I tend to be out in the streets a lot, discovering interesting corners that tourist books don't mention and visitors don't generally see. I also visit photo galleries, events and exhibits, big and small. This blog is a place for me to share some of this information with others who might be interested.

In celebration of its 120th anniversary, the Eiffel Tower is currently displaying a special light show. The highest structure in Paris (at 324 metres or 1,063 feet tall), the tower was built by Gustave Eiffel as the entrance arch for the 1889 World's Fair in Paris. Originally intended to be dismantled after the fair, it was instead left in place and 120 years later it is one of the most visited paid attractions in the world. Between 22 October and 31 December, 2009, the light show brings the tower to life with changing colours moving up and down the iron lattice...

This is a rare occasion to see -- and photograph -- the tower in a different light, so to speak, and enjoy this change for a few days. If you are in town, get your tripod out and start clicking from 8:00 pm to dawn.

On 3 October, 2009, as part of the annual 'Nuit Blanche' celebration in Paris, photographer Chantal Stoman will present her collection of photos called 'Lost Highways'.
Taken from a car traveling on a highway through Tokyo, her images present slices of lives caught at the speed of light, with each window offering an opening into the Japanese life for a fraction of a second before moving on to the next one. Those pieces of lives and stolen moments give us an unusual and intimate access into the life of the city.
