To include or not to include people in a photograph, that is the question! Cities are by definition places where people live and gather. For urban photography, the difficulty is that as soon as a person is included in a picture, it becomes the focal point of the image. So there are no two ways about it, either you include people in the shots and they are the focal point, or you do what it takes to eliminate them from the image.

When I review pictures that participants take while on the Photo Tours in Paris, one theme often comes back as a discussion is that less is more. What I mean by that is the need to simplify images to give them more impact.
When we find a subject that we want to photograph, often we focus so much on it that we fail to see distracting elements around it. By taking a few steps closer, choosing a different angle or changing the focal length, it is possible to fill the frame and get a better image...
