Best Christmas Tree

We know Christmas is just around the corner when pretty lights come up in the streets, store fronts get brightly decorated and Christmas trees pop up for sale on the side walks. I can listen to my favorite carols on the radio or enjoy the glitters in my neighborhood, but the sure way for me to get into the Season's mood is to stand under the giant Christmas tree of the Galeries Lafayette.

The beautifully decorated tree is located in the heart of the perfume section under the famous stained glass dome. The famous Department store is 'camera friendly' and will let photographers have some fun as long as no tripod is involved.

For best results when taking pictures, it will be helpful to have a camera with a wide angle to get the full height of the tree. A lens around 17 mm will do the trick whether you stand at the base of the tree or go to the upper floors to fully appreciate the height of it. Adjust the white balance for various effect (for example, Tungsten setting for more natural colours or Fluorescent for a blue tint) and merrily click away!

Getting There: Galeries Lafayette is located at 40 Boulevard Haussmann in the 9th arrondissement. You can get there by lines 7 or 9 of the Paris Metro, stopping at the station Chaussée d'Antin - La Fayette.
